Sarah Lieber is a Senior Vice President on the Special Situations trading desk at the global investment bank, Jefferies. At Jefferies, Sarah helps run the bank’s litigation-funding business, which includes direct investing in commercial litigation and arbitration opportunities as well as creating a secondary market for all the major pure-play litigation funders. Prior to Jefferies, Sarah ran global investment origination at Burford Capital, the largest publicly traded litigation finance firm in the world.
Sarah is a commercial litigator by background. She served as Deputy General Counsel and head of litigation for monoline bond insurer, CIFG Assurance, where she was responsible for building a broad litigation program that resulted in a return to the insurer of nearly a billion dollars in losses suffered during the financial crisis. Sarah spent the first decade of her practice in the Financial Litigation and Trial Practice Groups at Jones Day in New York, where she specialized in litigation surrounding M&A, securities and complex structured products.
