REED S. OSLAN is a Senior Partner at Kirkland & Ellis, LLP and is based in the firm’s Chicago office.
Mr. Oslan has over thirty years of successfully representing corporate clients in a vast array of commercial disputes, including breach of contract and fraud actions, claims relating to failed venture capital and other corporate transactions, purchase price adjustments, litigation matters concerning real estate and partnership disputes, and indemnity claims. These regularly include billion and multi-hundred million dollar disputes. He also has represented clients in international arbitrations in Switzerland, Germany, Canada and New York.
Mr. Oslan’s experience includes prosecution and defense of litigation claims in the context of reorganization and liquidation proceedings, including fraudulent conveyance and other adversary commercial disputes. He has tried cases in the federal bankruptcy courts and is experienced with the unique procedures and strategies that are appropriate in those venues. Mr. Oslan also has litigated many environmental actions, with both private parties and governmental agencies.
Mr. Oslan is the Chairman of the K & E Special Fee Committee, the group of partners responsible for alternative billing arrangements including contingent fee, flat fee, discounts and bonus arrangements, and regularly works with clients with respect to litigation finance. For over twenty-five years, Mr. Oslan has worked extensively with K & E partners and clients in analyzing and structuring alternative billing arrangements.
